Selling on Instagram? Here’s our advice to boost your sales!

Selling on Instagram

Did you know the latest Instagram stats show there are currently more than 800 million monthly active users, double the monthly active users of Twitter and over three times as many users on WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger!  So now is the perfect time to integrate Instagram into your communications strategy and use it as a tool to boost sales!  We can’t give away all our secrets…but here are just a few of our top tips!

Setting up your business profile!

Make sure you have set up a Business profile for your brand and ensure that it’s optimised as much as possible. Remember to include a link in the Bio that directs users back to your website as this is the first thing your consumers will see! It’s also essential your Bio is attractive and interesting. It’s an opportunity to hook your consumers in just a few characters!

It’s time to shop!

Instagram has updated and now welcomes shopable tags! Businesses are now able to tag their products in their Instagram posts, awesome!  The audience is now able to see the name of the product and the price, and they can simply click through onto a separate page to complete the transaction. However, there are certain rules to be eligible for this Instagram feature including:

  • Having the latest Instagram update
  • Making sure your account is a Business Profile
  • You must have all your products listed on the shop feature on Facebook
  • You need to be an Admin on your business page! Then you’re ready to go!

This is an amazing feature to enhance your marketing strategy on Instagram and we love it!

Filter your photos, not your sales!

Instagram is an extremely visual platform and the best performing photos are those that have high-quality photography. To stand out in the crowd your photos need to be bright, bold and eye-catching whilst being infused with brand personality.  Does it inspire? Tell a story? Allow the consumer to see how it fits into their world? And, most importantly, activate sales?

But it’s not just your brand photos, User Generated Content (UGC) has a massive influence on consumers’ purchase choices. AdWeek reported that 85% of users surveyed find visual UGC more influential than brand photos, so make sure you’re reposting customer photos!

All about the stories!

Have you checked out Instagram Stories?  It is a superb way to get conversions to your website whilst also interacting with your audience. You can use polls to engage in conversation with your audience and receive brand feedback that you may require.

You can also add links to your stories that can help drive traffic back to the website and generate leads.

Insta Influencer to boost your brand!

Working with an Instagram influencer can be a great way to increase your brand awareness. Consumers often look for influencers’ recommendations to impact their purchase choices.

Influencers work because people view their opinions as true and genuine feedback on your product. They offer a review that consumers will trust and can be a super effective way to convert new consumers. Consumers also love the opportunity to see the product in action. For example, if you’re selling clothing online, working with different influencers gives the consumer a chance to see the clothing styled in different ways.

Why not try giving an influencer a discount code that encourages their audience to buy your products leading to a potential boost in sales? For a long time, one major fault that Instagram had was that it lacked being able to have a clickable link in the description of your posts. As discussed earlier, updates now mean you can add Shopable tags but also within Instagram stories you’re able to add links so users can simply swipe to visit the website, setting it apart from Snapchat.

Advertise!

By choosing to advertise on Instagram you’re able to hit a new targeted audience and it’s a great way to boost reach. You can specifically target an audience that will have a genuine interest in your product. E.g targeting a brand that has an interest in interiors for a homeware brand. It also has a ‘Shop Now’ button that will link straight through to your website, boosting the traffic and ultimately the sales!

Come and say hello if you need some help creating the ultimate social strategy, we would love to help!
