Welcome
Welcome to our Christmas edition of Montagenews,
our bi-monthly ezine to keep you updated with industry
and client news.
It has been a pretty hectic time for us all with our
relocation to larger offices on Whiteladies Road planned
for mid December, the appointment of a new director
in January 2008 (details to follow!) and the team has
also been working hard with local and national media.
In November, the Agency was featured in our industry
bible, PR Week, who contacted us for an in-depth analysis
of the South West media. Commercial Director Matt Anderson
was also selected for a live radio interview ‘News
Round Up’ with Bristol’s newest radio station,
Original FM. Listen here
for Matt’s views on the daily news.
We hope you all have an enjoyable Christmas break and
Happy New Year!
Aime Southgate, Creative Director |

Famous Author Launches Starbucks Bookdrive
Children’s author Tanya Landman shared the magic of reading
with pupils from Two Mile Hill Infant School in Victoria Street
Starbucks coffee house to launch the fifth annual Starbucks
Bookdrive in Bristol.
The Walker Books writer read excerpts from her latest book,
Flotsam and Jetsam and the Stormy Surprise. From November onwards
Starbucks customers across the UK were invited to share their
favourite story with local children by donating a new children’s
book in collection boxes in Starbucks coffee houses, with the
aim to drive imagination and literacy in young people. The campaign
exemplifies Starbucks' commitment to making a positive difference
to the communities in which it does business. |
Young Brains
More than 200 young neuroscientists gathered in Bristol last
month as part of a major initiative to foster the region’s emerging
scientific talent.
The Young Neuroscientists’ Day, sponsored by BioApproaches South
West, is a joint initiative run by the Universities of Bristol
and Cardiff which are at the forefront of international research
into the brain, both in health and disease.
The day gave those just starting out in neuroscience an opportunity
to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for collaborative
working, with highlights including a talk by Alice Roberts from
the BBC’s Don’t Die Young TV show and a lecture by one of the
top names in neuroscience, Professor Semir Zeki.

We have an exciting
time of expansion ahead of us. With several recent new client
wins and recent and pending recruitment drives, we felt now
was the time for a Montage office move, so with a rapidly growing
team we are moving offices to larger premises on Whiteladies
Road in Clifton. New address details to follow!
January, no doubt, will be a very busy month, not only following
the office move, but Montage will also have a new senior person
joining the team. More details will follow in the next newsletter,
but we can say that the newest member of the Montage team has
been headhunted from a top national agency! |

Next year is the 20th Anniversary of Crimestoppers in the
UK. Gordon Chisholm, Development Officer for West Country Crimestoppers,
looks at the charity’s work and achievements:
“Many people have heard of Crimestoppers and the number 0800
555 111, but fewer realise that Crimestoppers is an independent
registered charity helping to prevent and solve crime. It is
not part of the police, a television programme or a government
body.
The purpose of Crimestoppers is to provide a means of passing
information to the police anonymously. The charity runs the
0800 555 111 number, which allows anyone to call anonymously
with information about any crime and who is committing it, 24
hours a day.
Since 1988 when Crimestoppers was founded, we have taken just
over 940,000 actionable calls with valuable information leading
to the arrest and charge of 80,000 individuals for crimes ranging
from murder to fraud, to drugs offences to rape.”
