Welcome
Welcome to Montagenews, our bi-monthly ezine
to keep you updated with industry and client news.
It’s been an enjoyable and very busy time at Montage
over the past couple of months, and we’ve been
pleased to welcome a new member to our team, following
the launch of our undergraduate scheme. Sophie Burrows,
a marketing student at the University of the West of
England (UWE), has joined us for the third year of her
course. Read about her here.
Sophie’s appointment has proved an immense success,
and we’ll look forward to working with UWE again
in 2008, headhunting more PR stars of the future!
We hope you enjoy this issue of Montagenews.

Couple Bowled Over By Double
Jackpot Win!
A couple who are keen bowlers could not believe their luck
when they realised they had won the Jackpot of £479,142
– twice! Two days before he was due to retire, Derek Ladner
and his wife Dawn were ‘bowled over’ after winning
the Jackpot twice in the same Lotto draw on 11th July 2007,
winning £958,284 in total. David had forgotten that he
had already bought his ticket for the draw, and purchased another
a few days later.
They will be spending their money modernising their house in
Redruth, with all the little luxuries that will make their retirement
even more comfortable. And this summer they plan a luxury holiday
in Tenerife, one of their top destinations of all time.

Businesses Fight Crime
Businesses including The Bristol Hippodrome, Rolls Royce,
Ladbrokes, Broadmead, the Holland House Hotel, Bristol City
Council and Montage Communications have joined the West Country
Crimestoppers Business Associates Scheme.
John Hirst, Manager of Broadmead and Chairman of West Country
Crimestoppers, said: “West Country Crimestoppers relies
on the generous support of individuals and businesses to undertake
activities to reduce crime in the local community. Increasingly,
both businesses and their workforces are keen to engage with
their local communities, and by joining the Associates Scheme,
local businesses and national businesses with a strong regional
presence can help the charity to continue to provide this invaluable
community service.”
The Scheme was launched at the Bristol Hippodrome earlier this
month, with the help of the cast of Starlight Express! |
Sensitive
Revolution
A state-of-the-art communication aid has been developed to
improve the care of thousands of people with spinal injuries
and other highly-dependent patients.
Pure Ability’s Sensagest® system enables patients
with minimal movements of the hand, foot or shoulder to alert
nursing staff or control multiple electrical devices by using
a sophisticated, touch-sensitive pad. Users operate the intelligent
pad with a series of simple stroking or tapping gestures, which
are then decoded by a small, wearable computer.
The system, which recently won the overall Bone and Joint Innovation
category and the Best Patient Independence accolade in the 2007
Medical Futures healthcare awards, is set to improve the efficiency
of patient care and lower costs for hospitals. |
Prestoplan
Expands Management Team
Leading UK timber frame designer and manufacturer, Prestoplan,
has expanded its management team as demand for its quality timber
frame solutions continues to grow.
Prestoplan has appointed seven new managers following the opening
of the company’s second plant in Quedgley, Gloucestershire,
which will more than double its output within a couple of years.
The new facility is enabling Prestoplan to introduce new technological
innovations that will guarantee accuracy and minimise waste,
helping them to meet environmental and cost targets. Its new
fully integrated computer design, engineering and manufacturing
systems mean that they can also produce the frame of a complete
house quickly and accurately.
