Raising The Bar

Bristol-based Action Indoor Sports Stadiums, hosts of the Indoor Cricket World Cup 2007, is the latest company to benefit from funding by the YFM Group, securing a total of £750,000 from two YFM Group funds: £250,000 from the South West Ventures Fund and £500,000 from The Finance South West Growth Fund. In addition, Sport England has also provided a £250,000 grant, subject to completion of the final award conditions.

The unique business model, which has already taken Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Japan by storm, gives competitive grading to its players and offers both Olympic and popular sports.

Flying High!

Brunel and Gordano Training Group, the South West’s largest training provider, named Steven O’Brien from Airbus UK the Apprentice of the Year at its 26th Annual Apprentice Awards Ceremony. Over 500 guests, including Bristol business leaders such as Bristol Water, Boots and The Northcliffe Press, attended the ceremony to celebrate the achievements of 150 trainees who have completed their apprenticeships.

Twenty-three year old Steven O’Brien from Downend, Bristol, received the top accolade for his hard work and determination in developing IT-based virtual aircraft landing gear modelling technology for flight simulations at Airbus UK.

Sourcing Good Coffee

Starbucks stores across the country have held Good Coffee Day celebrations, offering customers a chance to learn more about Starbucks’ ethical purchasing approach whilst enjoying a complimentary tall cup of Café Estima Blend™ Fairtrade certified filter coffee.

Starbucks is one of the largest purchasers of Fairtrade certified coffee in the world and also has its own independently-verified, socially-responsible coffee-buying guidelines that ensure the sustainable production of high quality coffee.

Customers joined in ‘aroma labs’ – similar to wine tasting - sampling coffees from across the ‘coffee-belt’, the region bounded by the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.

Camelot Bid

Camelot Makes
Its Bid

Camelot has unveiled a pioneering third licence bid to take The UK National Lottery forward to 2019, with a series of proposals designed to create more winners, maximise returns to the Good Causes – and ensure that it remains a world beater in the next licence period.

Camelot’s plans for The National Lottery are spearheaded with a suite of exciting draw-based games, including the launch of the first ever World Lottery Draw and ground-breaking new game categories to sit alongside Camelot’s existing draw-based, Scratchcard and Interactive Instant Win portfolio.

Camelot's CEO, Dianne Thompson, submits third licence bid.

New Media Launch
T
This month, Montage launches its New Media Department, offering its clients Blogging, Pod and Video Casting, and Search Engine Optimisation services. In this and subsequent issues we’ll be taking a brief look at the individual services, but for more information on any of them, please contact the Commercial Director, Matt Anderson on 0845 644 5404.

Blogs are an ideal tool for building engagement with your customer or client base, and monitoring perception of your brand. The most-visited blogs have constantly evolving content. Blogs need regular management in order to be successful. As part of our New Media services, Montage provides a fully-managed blog-writing service for clients that do not have the time or expertise in-house. The blog can be embedded into the client’s existing website, and Montage can manage the content remotely, avoiding costly web design fees for each posting.

Power To The People

A consumer revolt is gathering pace on the web, clearly demonstrating the power of online media - internet-savvy customers have downloaded more than one million forms from www.moneysavingexpert.com. This has generated a crisis PR situation for UK banks, as consumers seek to claw back some of the £4.75bn charges levied annually by high street banks.

Getting Greener

Green credentials will play an increasing role in reputation management in the future. Up to 50% of marketing and public relations professionals have identified environmental awareness as a leading factor in an organisation’s reputation among consumers.
